Last Thursday I picked up my daughter (the children are already back in school!) and we headed up to Little Rock CA to pick peaches. It's about 45 minutes from her home.
Dave and I started going about 30 years ago. I have only missed one year back in 2013 when I broke my wrist a few days before peach season opened!
Before we knew it, we had picked a LOT of peaches: 167# to be exact!!!
Shelly says she thinks that I am shrinking because she had to reach some of the higher peaches on the trees!
Usually Richard, the owner, will pick up the peaches with his tractor trailer and take them back to the weigh station. But he was picking 50 boxes himself to drive down to San Diego.
No problem! Shelly pulled all 167# back to be weighed!
I guess working out for Tough Mudders pays off in many ways!
Each bucket is about 25 pounds. This one was 26 1/2 pounds.
You take your own boxes and gently pack them up.
Picking and packing took about an hour and we were on our way home!
It has been hot and humid here so the peaches are already ripe or ripening quickly.
I will cut some up for the freezer and the rest will be for other people!
Until next summer……
Thank you for stopping by!

Oh yum! I love peaches. Must have been so much fun picking the with your beautiful daughter. TFS!
They look so yummy. I am sure you had fun. Have a good rest of the weekend.
What FUN!!!
Those look so yummy! I almost considered driving up there to pick some, but it’s 1-1/2 hours from me, so I think I’ll pass. I know you’ll enjoy them and make some tasty treats as well.
