When I saw this idea in the newest Stampin' Success( pg 16), I knew that I had to try it out with the Spring Fever Simply Scrappin'.
This project will also be one fo the four projects for my March 12th class.
If you are going to make this, I would suggest that you read my entire tutorial. I figured out a few key little tricks that really helped.
Decorations and papers are from the #124006 Spring Fever Simply Scrappin' Kit Occasions Mini pg 21 $21.95;
For the ribbon, I just wove some of the SAB ribbon back and forth, tied another piece around it and stuck it on with a Mini Glue Dot.
I started with a 5 1/4"x 3" piece of Certaily Celery card stock.
Now, how in the world do you score c/s every 7/8"?
I marked this to show you how I did it. However, on my own, I don't use the markers.
7/8" is ONE LINE to the left of 1" line.
The second mark it TWO LINES to the left of the 2" line.
The third mark is THREE LINES to the left of the 3" line.
The fourth mark is FOUR LINES to the left of the 4" line.
And the fifth mark is FIVE LINES to the left of the 5" line.
It's not rocket science, is it???? But it works for me! It is quick and easy.
Now before you fold up the six sections, decide if you want to put a window in it.
To add the window, push the Modern Label Punch into either end and punch the second panel.
Cut out a little piece of window sheet and adhere it to the inside over the opening.
Add Sticky Strip to one of the end panels and overlap the #1 and #6 panels completely.
To make the ends, use the Fancy Flower Punch to punch out two pieces of card stock or DSP. I used the Spring Fever DSP.
Note: If you use DSP, you can fold each flap over with your fingers.
If you use card stock, you will need to use a ruler and a scoring tool to make the score lines.
What is the best way to fasten on the end pieces?
- Dotto won't hold them. (Actually, Dotto and Snail will probably hold DSP, but it won't hold c/s.)
- Snail won't hold them.
- Sticky Strip will hold them, but it is tedius to put on and very difficult for anyone to pull it up.
- I decided to use MINI GLUE DOTS. They are easier to put onto to each flap and will be easier to pull up.
Then you can simply decorate the outside anyway that you would like!
Here is a sample with no window.
This one is 5 1/4"x 4 1/2". It would hold a lot of candy…more than we need probably.
I colored the ice cream cone with markers. Then I used the VersaMark pen on the "ice cream" and added one of the scented embossing powders in the Occasions Mini. It smells so good!
So what are you going to put into it? It will hold 6 Hershey's kisses!
Candy covered or plain sunflower seeds, M&M's, jelly beans, sixlits, gummies (remove from packaging). bath salts, bath confetti!
Food: wrapped mini biscotti, stick gum packs, Rolo candy bars, Kisses, Seasonal candies of course, water bottle flavor sticks & pastel mints.
Non-Food: lip gloss, hair bands, cotton handkerchiefs, pocket scarf, birthday candles with lighter, mini flashlight, rolled cash or coin, sharpee marker, and SU's small stamps!
